Hue & Cry - Back On the Road

>> Hue & Cry play 3 full band shows in November

Hue and Cry first made their mark in the late eighties with hit singles such as ‘Labour of Love’ (1987), ‘Violently’ (1988) and ‘Looking For Linda’ (1989). Their winning style of strongly written pop songs fused with jazz and soul saw them enjoy huge chart success with their debut album ‘Seduced and Abandoned’ quickly followed by the release of their second album ‘Remote’.

Now, fresh from an active year of recording new material for an upcoming album, the pop duo are due to play three very special shows in November, including a gig at the ABC in Glasgow supporting Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy In Scotland, a charity providing music therapy to over 30,000 children and adults in need across the UK.

Says Gregory Kane, “these are our first full band shows since the beginning of 2006 and we’re really looking forward to them, Scottish audiences have always been great to us. We're particularly pleased to be supporting Nordoff Robbins as we were recipients of their Tartan Clef award last year”. The following dates mark a new point in their successful career, as they take their trademark sound and back-catalogue on the road for the first time in years with a new look, band, and dynamism!

Hue and Cry have performed alongside some of the biggest names in the business including Madonna, U2, James Brown, Van Morrison, Simply Red and played to nine thousand people a night on their own British tours.

Glasgow's Blind Pew Pen A Deal

One of Scotland’s most popular and promising live acts has finally achieved the recognition it deserves… Occasionally irreverent, often satirical and always ear-catching, Glasgow-based Blind Pew have recently signed to London-based A List Records. "In terms of performance and timeless, quality songs, Blind Pew stand ten feet taller than everyone else” says Cary George, Chairman of A List Music Group. “We are delighted at this signing.”

The band’s first single will be released on A List in early 2007, followed by their as-yet-untitled debut album.

“Signing a record deal is our biggest achievement to date. As a band, you slog away for so many years and then finally someone has as much faith in the music as you do. It feels like a good bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes,” says Blind Pew guitarist and longtime cereal-endorser Paul McGranaghan.

To celebrate their signing – and showcase some new material to their growing legion of fans - Blind Pew will play two shows next month: Glasgow (Nice ‘n’ Sleazy, 4th November) and Edinburgh (Bannerman’s, 3rd November). They’ll also play at In The City as part of an A List showcase, on 29th October.

About Blind Pew:

Formed in Largs in 2003, Blind Pew are: Andy MacGregor (lead vocals/keyboard), Paul McGranaghan (guitar/vocals), Stu McIntosh (bass/vocals) and Del Lamont (drums). The band’s unique rock stylings have led to comparisons with the likes of The Rolling Stones and The White Stripes. 2005 EP ‘You’re Claimed’ was recorded at Cava by Gordon Rintoul (Paul Weller, Tori Amos, The Vaselines) and the band have played with Dogs Die In Hot Cars, The View, The Subways and The Hazey Janes. They are currently in the studio recording material for the new album.

Classic Grand

>> Glasgow's New Super-Venue

Glasgow's music scene is growing even larger and stronger with the launch of the Classic Grand on Jamaica Street on October 13th. My Latest Novel and the Grim Northern Social will play live on the opening night, as well as DJs from Clash Magazine and DJ Mash.

Glasgow city centre has long needed a 500 capacity venue and housed in one of Glasgow's first cinemas dating back to 1915 The Classic Grand fills that void. With a state of the art linear PA system a comfortable and secure backstage area and a smaller 240 capacity room, which is ideal for aftershows, launches, previews or other functions, this makes The Classic Grand a must play venue on the UK touring circuit.
